Thad,
Isabel and I began this passage from La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, Mexico to Nuka
Hiva, Marquesas, French Polynesia on April 16th when we weighed anchor at 0645.
We’re down to about 425 miles to go, which we should be able to do in 3 days,
no sweat. Because we don’t generally enter new anchorages at night, we may have
to slow down to assure a daylight arrival. Nuts.
We
just clocked a 190 nautical mile run over 24 hours. Average speed over ground
of 7.9 knots. Rough seas, Hard to move about safely - gotta hang on. Hard to
sleep what with all the banging and thumping.
We’re
37 feet at the waterline. Absolutely tickled pink with a 190 mile day.
Apparently
in Heaven you get a harp. In Hell an accordian. When we get to Nuka Hiva, I’m
getting out the Don Julio 70 Cristalino to celebrate the occasion.
Thanks
Ralph and Helen Marx for the sippin’ tequila.
Thank
you Jamie Gifford for helping us work the currents and avoid fire and
brimstone.
Full
speed ahead!
