Isla
San Benedicto is off to starboard, Isla Socorro is ahead and to port, and we’re
just gliding along with a full main sail and screecher. Eight knots true wind
yields about 6 knots SOG thanks to the lovely 0.9 knot stern current Jamie
Gifford pointed us towards. The sun is out, the solar is pumping mad amounts of
electricity into the batteries, and (fingers crossed) everything is working
well. It’s a great day to be alive - even better to be sailing across the
Pacific! With luck we’ll stay ahead of and above that big blue hole that Mr.
Weatherman has warned us about.
For
the last 56 hours we’ve averaged 5.7 knots SOG, only about 10 hours of that
with the motors on. What the heck are we going to do with all that extra
diesel? I bet I’ll be sorry I said that!
About
the most stressful event right now is trying to finish the last episodes of
Breaking Bad we downloaded from Netflix before they expire! It’s definitely a
high class problem.
