What could POSSIBLY go wrong?

1025 ship’s time (1725 UTC) - or ZULU to you old farts.
The main halyard is a 2:1 purchase, with an eye splice pinned at the mast head and a block that attaches to the main sail head board with a big, captured, threaded shackle pin with a hole in the grip. We’ve never siezed this particular pin because it has a lot of built in thread drag, and it’s never EVER loosened up on us. Hah.
Last night trusty crewman Thad observed the main halyard to be floating in space. Lucky for all of us he snagged it and secured it to a cleat, then alerted Captain Mark to the issue this morning.
Jeez.
Guess it’ll get reinstalled today WITH seizing wire and that will hopefully be the end of that.
Our pal Jamie Gifford warned us that on long passages odd and perhaps bizarre things would break simply due to the duration of the motion, vibration, and constant cyclic loading. Jamie is obviously smarter than the average bear.
Thad brought his downloaded Spotify play lists, so no matter what breaks, at least we’ve got killer tunes to get us through. Sure hope the stereo hangs in there. . .
