We’ve
just hit a milestone - our first full week on this passage. As we pass the 168
hour mark, here are the numbers:
Average
speed: 5.7 knots
Maximim
speed: 11.4 knots
Miles
over the Earth: 954.2
Hours
motoring: 48.4
Hours
motorsailing: 3
Fuel
consumed: 119 liters
Water
made: 984 liters
Solar
power generated: 34,640 watt hours
We’re
pleased with our progress, as well as how JollyDogs and the entire crew is
enjoying the passage. We’ve had some minor issues but corrected them, and we’ve
been fortunate with the weather. Nobody has gotten hurt. We haven’t broken
anything big.
Catamarans
have real estate for solar panels. We’ve got 1440 watts and 720 a/h of LiFeP04
batteries, so we don’t have to burn carbon fuel to charge our batteries. Our
CruiseRO water maker produces 30+ gallons per hour. We’re a bit profligate with
our power and water usage, but a daily shower and music on the stereo do a lot
to improve crew morale.
All
is well on board SV JollyDogs!
